I have been wondering about how best to approach these questions for a while. How does one "footnote" a performance in the ways that papers and talks can call attention to particular modes of thinking? How do we offer context within Shakespeare performance that speaks to the current moment beyond offering an honest and critical presentation? Is that enough? I think you hit the nail on the head in many ways, what we are missing in theatre is the conversation around those needs, how do we address that -- and-- should those conversations include our friends in Academia?
